The Ganesh Man Singh Academy since 1995 has been working to promote a democratic, just and peaceful society with equal opportunity for all. The Academy develops and spreads these ideas through its research work, humanitarian activities, forums, and workshops. It also provides an arena for open-minded public debate through its seminars, conferences and publications. Named after the late Ganesh Man Singh as a way of a tribute to the great leader, the Academy works to promote Singh’s democratic ideals towards an equitable society. Singh who was honoured with the United Nations Human Rights Award and the UN’s U Thant peace prize is also called the father of democracy, as it was his leadership that brought the then squabbling political parties together and paved the way for the success of the Jana Andolan I in 1990. The Academy is non-partisan, not affiliated to any political party and editorially and organisationally independent. |
